I haven't been able to find any of the collectible minifigures recently, are they not selling them anymore? I know they're limited edition, but I thought they'd be available for a bit longer.
Has anyone been able to find any recently? If so, where?

I watched 'Come and See' recently. I thought it was very good film but I wouldn't say that I enjoyed it necessarily.
I am interested in how WW2 is presented in Russian films. It's interesting to see the difference in the cultural significance of WW2 between countries through film.

2021.12.05 16:22 gsohitrun Silver car hit & run in GSO, took 40 West
This is a long shot, but last night at 7:15-7:20 PM a smaller silver car reared ended us in our brand new, literally off the lot 5 minutes (NOT JOKING - JUST SIGNED PAPERWORK AND EVERYTHING) SUV at the red light at Big Tree Way & W Wendover Ave in GSO, then took off on the 40 West ramp. If anyone has any information, please call the non-emergency GSO line. Posting here because they may have been going home to Winston.. I don't know. It's a long shot, just sad.
Accidents suck and they are just that.. but just own up to it and be a good person. Let the insurance companies settle it. I just want a new bumper that isn't going to cost me a deductible after buying a car that we agonized over and should be so happy about. Please own up to your mistakes. Your car has to be in bad shape and you're going to need to get it repaired too.
I believe most people are decent people and I really doubt someone who has no conscience hit us.. so.. just be honest and come forward. I get panicking and freaking out, but do the right thing now that you have had time to sleep and reflect.
If you know someone who claimed to have hit an object or something last night and the front of their silver car is busted.. talk to them, please. Cameras and such are being checked, but we just want this headache over and to sleep peacefully tonight.

2021.12.05 16:22 MilkyMoo [Excerpt | Foundation] Decay, Asimov and 40k
One of the best descriptions of 40k I've ever read came from AffixBayonets: "no single thing in 40k is original, it's the combination that's unique". I recently reread the Foundation series a while back and smiled at what undoubtedly was a a source of inspiration for the creators of Warhammer 40k. One theme that i thought was especially interesting was that of decay.
For those who have not read the Foundation series, it is one of the seminal works of science fiction. Written by Isaac Asimov in the 1940s and 1950s, it remains to this day an aquifer of inspiration, in many ways similar to what Tolkien's works are to fantasy. The plot revolves around the attempt to shorten an incoming galactic dark age from 30.000 years to a thousand years, following the inevitable collapse of the galactic empire which has ruled for thousands of years. The psychohistorian Salvor Hardin laid forth a theory using mathematics that the coming dark ages could be shortened by creating a foundation at the edge of the galaxy which would conserve knowledge far away from the the chaos in the earlier imperial territories. The reader follows a number of different characters, one of the notable ones are Salvor Hardin.
At Terminus, at the edge of the galaxy, Salvor Hardin and the imperial representative Lord Dorwin has an interesting exchange which shows imperial decline. I have to admit I'm sensing a bit of the methodology (or the lack of) that Kasper Howser disliked in Prospero Burns:
quoted text When the lights went on again, Lord Dorwin said: "Mahvelous. Twuly mahvelous. You ah not, by chance, intewested in ahchaeology, ah you, Hahdin?" "Eh?" Hardin shook himself out of an abstracted reverie. "No, milord, can't say I am. I'm apsychologist by original intention and a politician by final decision." "Ah! No doubt intewesting studies. One, myself, y'know" – he helped himself to a giant pinch of snuff –"dabble in ahchaeology." "Indeed?" "His lordship," interrupted Pirenne, "is most thoroughly acquainted with the field." "Well, p'haps I am, p'haps I am," said his lordship complacently. "I have done an awful amount of wuhk in the science. Extwemely well-read, in fact. I've gone thwough all of Jawdun, Obijasi, Kwomwill ... oh, all of them, y'know." "I've heard of them, of course," said Hardin, "but I've never read them." "You should some day, my deah fellow. It would amply repay you. Why, I cutainly considah it well wuhth the twip heah to the Pewiphewy to see this copy of Lameth. Would you believe it, my Libwawy totally lacks a copy. By the way, Doctah Piwenne, you have not fohgotten yoah pwomise to twansdevelop a copy foah me befoah I leave?" "Only too pleased." "Lameth, you must know," continued the chancellor, pontifically, "pwesents a new and most intwesting addition to my pwevious knowledge of the 'Owigin Question."' "Which question?" asked Hardin. "The 'Owigin Question.' The place of the owigin of the human species, y'know. Suahly you must know that it is thought that owiginally the human wace occupied only one planetawy system." "Well, yes, I know that." "Of cohse, no one knows exactly which system it is – lost in the mists of antiquity. Theah ah theawies, howevah. Siwius, some say. Othahs insist on Alpha Centauwi, oah on Sol, oah on 61Cygni – all in the Siwius sectah, you see." "And what does Lameth say?" "Well, he goes off along a new twail completely. He twies to show that ahchaeological wemains on the thuhd planet of the Ahctuwian System show that humanity existed theah befoah theah wah any indications of space-twavel." "And that means it was humanity's birth planet?" "P'haps. I must wead it closely and weigh the evidence befoah I can say foah cuhtain. One must see just how weliable his obsuhvations ah." Hardin remained silent for a short while. Then he said, "When did Lameth write his book?" "Oh – I should say about eight hundwed yeahs ago. Of cohse, he has based it lahgely on the pwevious wuhk of Gleen." "Then why rely on him? Why not go to Arcturus and study the remains for yourself?" Lord Dorwin raised his eyebrows and took a pinch of snuff hurriedly. "Why, whatevah foah, my deah fellow?" "To get the information firsthand, of course." "But wheah's the necessity? It seems an uncommonly woundabout and hopelessly wigmawolish method of getting anywheahs. Look heah, now, I've got the wuhks of all the old mastahs – the gweat ahchaeologists of the past. I wigh them against each othah – balance the disagweements – analyze the conflicting statements – decide which is pwobably cowwect – and come to a conclusion. That is the scientific method. At least" – patronizingly –"as I see it. How insuffewably cwude it would be to go to Ahctuwus, oah to Sol, foah instance, and blundah about, when the old mastahs have covahed the gwound so much moah effectually than we could possibly hope to do." Hardin murmured politely, "I see." "Come, milord," said Pirenne, "think we had better be returning." "Ah, yes. P'haps we had." As they left the room, Hardin said suddenly, "Milord, may I ask a question?" Lord Dorwin smiled blandly and emphasized his answer with a gracious flutter of the hand. "Cuhtainly, my deah fellow. Only too happy to be of suhvice. If I can help you in any way fwom my pooah stoah of knowledge-" "It isn't exactly about archaeology, milord." "No?" "No. It's this: Last year we received news here in Terminus about the meltdown of a power plant on Planet V of Gamma Andromeda. We got the barest outline of the accident – no details at all. I wonder if you could tell me exactly what happened." Pirenne's mouth twisted. "I wonder you annoy his lordship with questions on totally irrelevant subjects." "Not at all, Doctah Piwenne," interceded the chancellor. "It is quite all wight. Theah isn't much to say concuhning it in any case. The powah plant did undergo meltdown and it was quite a catastwophe, y'know. I believe wadiatsen damage. Weally, the govuhnment is sewiously considewing placing seveah westwictions upon the indiscwiminate use of nucleah powah – though that is not a thing for genewal publication, y'know." "I understand," said Hardin. "But what was wrong with the plant?" "Well, weally," replied Lord Dorwin indifferently, "who knows? It had bwoken down some yeahs pweviously and it is thought that the weplacements and wepaiah wuhk wuh most infewiah. It is so difficult these days to find men who weally undahstand the moah technical details of ouah powah systems." And he took a sorrowful pinch of snuff. "You realize," said Hardin, "that the independent kingdoms of the Periphery had lost nuclear power altogether?" "Have they? I'm not at all suhpwised. Bahbawous planets– Oh, but my deah fellow, don't call them independent. They ahn't, y'know. The tweaties we've made with them ah pwoof positive of that. They acknowledge the soveweignty of the Empewah. They'd have to, of cohse, oah we wouldn't tweat with them." "That may be so, but they have considerable freedom of action." "Yes, I suppose so. Considewable. But that scahcely mattahs. The Empiah is fah bettah off, with the Pewiphewy thwown upon its own wesoahces – as it is, moah oah less. They ahn't any good to us, y'know. Most bahbawous planets. Scahcely civilized." "They were civilized in the past. Anacreon was one of the richest of the outlying provinces. I understand it compared favorably with Vega itself." "Oh, but, Hahdin, that was centuwies ago. You can scahcely dwaw conclusion fwom that. Things wah diffewent in the old gweat days. We ahn't the men we used to be, y'know. But, Hahdin, come, you ah a most puhsistent chap. I've told you I simply won't discuss business today. Doctah Piwenne did pwepayah me foah you. He told me you would twy to badgah me, but I'm fah too old a hand foah that. Leave it foah next day. And that was that.Later Mallow describes this exchange with a frustration that rivals that of Robute Guilliman:
quoted text His [Salvor Hardin] fists balled spasmodically. "It amounts to a diseased attitude – a conditioned reflex that shunts aside the independence of your minds whenever it is a question of opposing authority. There seems no doubt ever in your minds that the Emperor is more powerful than you are, or Hari Seldon wiser. And that's wrong, don't you see?" For some reason, no one cared to answer him. Hardin continued: "It isn't just you. It's the whole Galaxy. Pirenne heard Lord Dorwin's idea of scientific research. Lord Dorwin thought the way to be a good archaeologist was to read all the books on the subject – written by men who were dead for centuries. He thought that the way to solve archaeological puzzles was to weigh the opposing authorities. And Pirenne listened and made no objections. Don't you see that there's something wrong with that?" Again the note of near-pleading in his voice. Again no answer. He went on: "And you men and half of Terminus as well are just as bad. We sit here, considering the Encyclopedia the all-in-all. We consider the greatest end of science. is the classification of past data. It is important, but is there no further work to be done? We're receding and forgetting, don't you see? Here in the Periphery they've lost nuclear power. In Gamma Andromeda, a power plant has undergone meltdown because of poor repairs, and the Chancellor of the Empire complains that nuclear technicians are scarce. And the solution? To train new ones? Never! Instead they're to restrict nuclear power." And for the third time: "Don't you see? It's Galaxywide. It's a worship of the past. It's a deterioration – a stagnation!"This excerpt is by no means a critique of 40k. By all means I think it's great how science fiction has changed and evolved and expresses itself in new ways, and that many of the same problems and challenges that are being discussed over half a century after Foundation was written. Hope you enjoy.

2021.12.05 16:22 FoodDoodGames My interpretations of the congestion issue
I've been trying to log in for a few days now with not much luck besides one hour I was online so I thought it would be good to look around and find out what is causing all this and see what SE has to say about it. In the recent lodestone post they mention that they've reached a "hardware limit". As a systems design nerd this usually means they have no more ability to handle the incoming requests besides increasing their current physical/virtual servers - which typically only increase capacity at a linear scale. I thought making a picture from my point of view and limited knowledge of their architecture should explain it a little better. From left to right -
1) Log into your SE account using your computebattlestation
2) Authenticate and authorize against their load balancer as it validates your creds (This is where it appears to bottle neck on right now - I can't even get my character info)
3) Succeed or fail to get to the edge server
4) Wait in queue for x number of people to get in
5) Enjoy bunny boy scythe teim
The only problem is too many bunnies are have too much scythe time and it is creating a bottle neck on the game servers that handle the actual game. Their infrastructure is likely set to handle getting you into games, not floating you in a queue of queues. This likely causes the issue between load balancers and whatever they are using for edge servers. My $0.02.

2021.12.05 16:22 varxtis Any Laser printers dedicated to printing images on cardstock?
Im trying to find a Laser printer that's (more or less) made for printing images on cardstock. All the printers I come across are "office" oriented and have all the additional stuff I really don't want, like fax and copier.
Is there a Laser printer that's made for printing Images, specifically on Cardstock, and not "office" tailored. I am also needing it to support 13" x 19" printing.
